Aaron Ayer

President and Founder

Aaron Ayer
Aaron Ayer, our founder, has built multiple marketing organizations as a chief marketing officer. His entrepreneurial, yet analytical, management principles offer fresh value to growth stage small companies and Fortune 500 businesses alike. Prior to founding The Hunley Group in 2010, Aaron had served as head of marketing for Hycrete, a CleanTech company funded by Mohr-Davidow and Rockport Capital. He came to Hycrete from a similar role at StrionAir, a building products company held by Carlyle Group, when it was sold to United Technologies / Carrier Corporation. He began his professional career as a nuclear submarine officer in the US Navy.

Aaron received an MBA from Harvard Business School and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla. He is a registered Professional Engineer and a US Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional. An expert in CRM implementations and applications, he is a Salesforce.com Certified Sales Cloud Consultant, Service Cloud Consultant, Pardot Consultant, and Administrator.

Jon Russo

Partner

Jon Russo
Jon Russo is a 3-time Chief Marketing Officer, leading marketing for companies ranging from former divisions of General Electric to successful Silicon Valley start ups. His leadership roles included a $180M M&A (GlobalCenter now owned by Level3 Communications) and an I.P.O. of SaaS mobility company iPass (NASDAQ: IPAS) as a 16b officer. Most recently, Jon headed marketing and inside sales for privately held ReturnPath, the email deliverability company for Eloqua, Marketo, ExactTarget/Salesforce.com among others. Jon Russo serves on the board of directors of MOCCA, and is a frequent speaker at numerous industry events and conferences. He began his career as an officer in the US Army.

Jon received his MBA from the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley, and holds a BS in Finance from the University of Connecticut. Jon is a recognized thought leader in the marketing automation industry, and is an expert in driving success with Eloqua, Marketo, and Pardot. He is a certified Eloqua Master.

Penny Hammond

Principal

Penny Hammond
Penny Hammond joined The Hunley Group in 2011. She has worked in and developed entrepreneurial, mid-size, and large businesses in the USA and UK, in a variety of roles from operations to business development to marketing. She has been involved in software development, system design, research, and analysis since 2003, when she joined DataArt, an Inc. 5000 software development company. Penny has wide experience in the construction industry since the early 1990s, from architecture to construction management (Bovis) to real estate development and construction materials manufacturers – roles have included design, project management of design and construction, business development/sales, and marketing.

Penny received an MBA from Columbia Business School and holds a BSc. in architecture, planning, and environmental studies from University College, London. She is president emeritus of the Columbia Business School Alumni Club of New York. She is a Salesforce.com Certified Sales Cloud Consultant, Service Cloud Consultant, and Administrator.

Joe Vela

Director of Technology

Joe Vela
Joe Vela began working with The Hunley Group in 2011. He’s a veteran of the SaaS market; he’s worked with Salesforce.com almost since it emerged. Joe spent the first five years of his career working with established software companies. The past fifteen years, he has specialized in helping growing companies build technology teams, create processes and deliver software solutions. His personal technical competencies include Salesforce.com architectural design, Force.com Development, Apex, VisualForce, Google Apps, PHP, MySQL, Tinderbox, Dell Boomi, and ExactTarget.

Joe received an MS in Information Systems from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and holds a BS from the State University of New York, Plattsburgh.  He is a Salesforce.com Certified Platform Developer, Sales Cloud Consultant, and Administrator.

Ted Horan

Director of Business Development

Ted Horan
Ted is a marketing and business development professional who is passionate about sustainable building solutions. He joined The Hunley Group in 2012. Ted spent the last five years working for Hycrete, a venture capital funded “CleanTech” company (with lead investors Mohr Davidow Ventures, Rockport Capital Partners, and NGEN Partners), developing solutions for concrete construction that make structures last longer and reduce construction’s environmental footprint. Ted quickly moved from Marketing Associate to Marketing and Business Development Manager to Director of Marketing and Business Development. Ted was responsible for overseeing strategic planning and positioning, product development and management, research, new customer acquisition, marketing communication, and sales support.

Ted received a BS in Finance from the University of Virginia, McIntire School of Commerce. He is a US Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional, and a Salesforce.com Certified Sales Cloud Consultant and Administrator.

Joann Galinis

Manager of Construction Industry Services

Joann Galinis is an experienced sales and marketing administrator, whose career began at Murdoch Magazines. She continued to expand in print media and broadcast television including various sales, marketing and production positions with Grass Valley Group, Pinnacle Systems and Avid Technologies. In 2009, Joann joined Hycrete and became a key member of the marketing team while fulfilling the role of Inside Sales Representative, organizing over 600 AIA Lunch & Learn presentations throughout the United States during her tenure. While at Hycrete, Joann provided lead generation and sales/marketing support to Hycrete’s direct sales team and regional agents. From 2013 to 2015, Joann took on the role of Acting Director of Marketing, leading all internal and external marketing efforts, including budgets, trade shows, ad placements and print/web material.

Joann received her MBA from Felician College and holds a BA in Mathematics from Rutgers College, New Brunswick, NJ, and is a Salesforce.com Certified Administrator.
